Canada 0-3 Morocco

The first half was tight, there weren't a lot of chances and the game went into halftime at 0-0.  After the break, in the 50th minute Morocco had a freekick. Hakimi made a clever pass to Azzedine Ounahi just outside the box who placed it past the keeper to make it 1-0. Canada tried to score but weren’t able to get past the Moroccan defense. In the 82nd minute Morocco were on the counter attack, Diaz cut the ball back to Soufiane Rahimi who tapped the ball in to double their lead. In the 8th minute of stoppage time Morocco went on the counter attack again and Rahimi was played through on goal and scored to double his tally and end Canada's World Cup campaign.

Paraguay 0-1 France

After beating Germany last round, Paraguay hoped to cause another upset. France dominated the ball but Paraguay was making life difficult for them sitting back very deep. The game was starting to turn cagey with multiple fouls for both teams. In the 70th minute France were awarded a penalty which Mbappe stepped up and scored. Paraguay were unable to create any chances and France saw out the game and advanced to the next round.

Brazil 1-2 Norway

Brazil started the match on the front foot and in the 8th minute they were awarded a penalty. Bruno Guimarães stepped up to take it but the keeper saved it. The score remained 0-0 for the majority of the match. Norway dominated the ball while Brazil had the better chances. In the 79th minute Schjelderup crossed the ball to Haaland who scored past the keeper. In the 89th minute Haaland received the ball just outside the box, took a touch, and slotted it in to double Norway’s lead. Brazil were awarded another penalty in the 10th minute of added time, Neymar stepped up and scored to make it 2-1 in what will be his last ever World Cup appearance.

Mexico 2-3 England

Mexico started the game well but In the 36th minute Saka crossed the ball to Bellingham who headed it past the keeper to give England the lead. Just two minutes later Kane was played through and squared it to Bellingham to tap in his second of the game. Mexico started to pile some pressure on England and in the 42nd minute, Mexico whipped in a freekick that deflected off an England defender and fell straight to Julián Quiñones who blasted the ball past the keeper to make it 1-2. Early in the second half Jarrell Quansah was sent off for a bad tackle meaning England had to play the rest of the match with 10 men. That didn’t stop them from going on the attack and in the 59th minute they were awarded a penalty which Kane scored. 6 minutes later Mexico were awarded a penalty and Raúl Jiménez scored to make it 2-3. Mexico gave it their all but weren’t able to break down the English defense.

Portugal 0- 1 Spain

The match was extremely tight with both teams having chances to score but the game remained 0-0. It looked set to go to extra time but in the 91st minute Mikel Merino was played through on goal and he calmly scored past the goalkeeper to give Spain the late lead. He was only on the pitch for 5 minutes but his impact won Spain the game

Argentina 3-2 Egypt

Egypt started the match the better team and in the 15th minute the ball was crossed into Yasser Ibrahim who headed it past the keeper to give them the lead. Argentina were awarded a penalty 4 minutes later, Messi stepped up but the keeper saved it. Argentina had more chances throughout the game but they were struggling to finish. In the 67th minute Egypt went on the counter attack, Hassan was through and passed it to Mostafa Ziko who scored past the keeper to double Egypt’s shock lead. In the 79th minute Messi crossed the ball to Romero who headed it in to make it 1-2. Just 4 minutes later after a scramble in the box the ball fell perfectly to Messi who struck it into the net to equalize for Argentina. In the 92nd minute, Martinez crossed the ball to Enzo Fernández who headed it into the net to give Argentina the win and complete their comeback.

Switzerland 0-0 Colombia (4-3 pens)

The game was very even but no one could find the breakthrough. Still at 0-0 the game went to extra time and with no goals it went to penalties. Both teams scored their first penalties and Switzerland scored their second but Davinson Sánchez missed Colombia’s second penalty. Colombia were able to score their 3rd penalty while Akanji missed his 3rd for Switzerland equalizing the score. Hernandez missed Colombia’s 4th penalty while Switzerland scored their remaining two to win them the game.
