USA 4-1 Paraguay

The World Cup 2026 is here. This is a huge opportunity for the USMNT to progress far into the tournament. They’re one of the host nations, have a manager who likes attacking football, and the golden generation are all entering their prime years. The US kicked off their opening game with lots of energy and an intent to attack. It didn’t take them long to score. In the 7th minute Pulisic dribbled past the Paraguay defense and passed it to Mckennine who knocked the ball off a Paraguay defender into the goal to make it 1-0. The US kept the tempo up, not allowing Paraguay to even enter their half. In the 31st minute Pulisic cut the ball back to Balogun who scored to make it 2-0. To top off the impressive first half performance, in the 5th minute of stoppage time Balogun went through on goal, cut onto his left foot and banged the ball into the top corner to make it 3-0.

In the second half the US slowed the game down. Paraguay were able to score in the 73rd minute but it was too late to mount a comeback. During the 8th minute of stoppage time Reyna scored a beautiful goal with the outside of his foot after a beautiful passing sequence from the US. 4-1 win and a 10/10 performance. The US next plays Australia on Friday June 19th.
